The researchers from the University of Stuttgart and Da Nang Institute for Socio-Economic Development (DISED) successfully conducted their first household survey in Da Nang in March 2016 (07. – 18.03.2016). The survey aims at gathering data on consumption/generation patterns in energy, water, wastewater, solid waste and food sector. The targeted sample size was 600 households with 60 households in each ward. Based on different socio-economic and geographical parameters, ten wards were chosen, namely; Phước Ninh (city centre), Thach Thang (city Centre), Hòa Tiến (countryside), Hòa Bắc (hilly countryside), Hòa Khánh Bắc (worker’s Settlement), Mỹ An (new suburb), An Hải Bắc (gated community), Nại Hiên Đông (social housing), Tân Chính (city Centre) and Hòa Xuân (planned new suburb). With the support from local government staff, the research team had an easy access to the households in each area and hence benefited in collecting required data. The survey was conducted using a tablet to eradicate data transfer from paper to computer and avoid manual error in data transfer.
