Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg | Partner

With its 10,000 students, the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is the second-largest university and the only technical university in the state of Brandenburg. Its degree programmes are highly regarded within Germany and internationally. Key to this success are the many collaborations in both teaching and research that BTU actively pursues not only with other universities and research institutions but also with local small and medium-sized companies as well as large international organizations and enterprises. The Department of Environmental Planning – headed by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. (NMU Dnepropetrovsk) Michael Schmidt - is part of Faculty 4, Environmental Sciences and Process Engineering. It was established in September 1994 and is closely connected with the teaching and research within the Institute of Environmental Management and offers proven expertise for Environmental Planning, Landscape Planning and also Environmental Information Systems. The department coordinated the Megacity-Project Integrative Urban and Environmental Planning for Adapting Ho Chi Minh City to Climate Change which was financed from 2008 to 2013 as part of the research programme Sustainable Development of the Megacities of Tomorrow by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
